Creating a place for the future workforce, Employers, and stakeholders to engage

What Next in North Notts is the region’s largest skills and careers event helping to shape the future of a new generation. By driving ambition we aspire to make more young people knowledgeable about their options early on through raising awareness of the opportunities and bringing careers and choices to life.

Organised by Bassetlaw District Council and funded by the North Notts BID, ‘What Next’ aims to create a forum to inform and shape a new generation, by helping young people to go further and faster in their careers. Focusing on 15-19 year old learners (KS 4/5) from secondary schools and further education provision across the region this FREE event provides ‘Have a Go’ experiences that inspire young people to explore careers in a range of key sectors and motivates them to find out more about the functions of local employers.

A mixture of national and local employers and training organisations will be on on-hand to engage with young people, their parents and educators over the seven themed zones Engineering, Construction, Service, Technology, Health and Life Science, Land and Environment, Education. There are hundreds of great career ideas to explore, including jobs of the future. Further, the show provides opportunities to consider all the post 16/18 options including Apprenticeships, A levels, Vocational Qualifications, and Higher Education.

For those who need further guidance an independent careers panel will provide a ‘triage’ utilising the skills of expert Careers advisors, Business HR managers and education professionals from HE, FE and 6th Form. The impartial 1:1 advice and guidance will cover all routes into jobs from live job vacancies, apprenticeships and further training opportunities.

Regional schools will be able to book a preferred time slot to engage the range of exhibitors ensuring the learners have sufficient time to fully engage employers and stakeholders. From 4:30pm the event opens to the public for all age ranges, providing the opportunity for parents / careers to attend and find out more.
