Creating a place for employers and the future workforce to engage

What Next in North Notts is the region’s largest skills and careers event helping our region's employers engage with and shape the future of a new generation and potential talent pipeline. By driving ambition, we aspire to make more young people knowledgeable about their options through raising awareness and bringing careers and choices to life, while raising the profile of the regions employers and helping close skills gaps.

Organised by Bassetlaw District Council and funded by the North Notts BID, ‘What Next’ aims to inform and shape a new generation, by helping young people to go further and faster in their careers. Attracting 1800+ 15-19 year old learners from secondary schools and further education provision across the region, this FREE event provides ‘Have a Go’ experiences that inspire young people to explore careers in a range of key sectors and motivates them to find out more about the functions of local employers such as yourself.

A mixture of national and local employers and training organisations will be on on-hand to engage with young people, their parents and educators over the eight themed zones (Health, Care and Life Science, Engineering and Manufacturing, Construction, Technology, Finance Legal and Service, Public Sector and Education, Land Based and Retail). There are hundreds of great career ideas to explore, including jobs of the future. Further, the show provides opportunities to consider all the post 16/18 options including Apprenticeships, A-Levels, Vocational Qualifications, Higher Education or direct employment.

Regional schools will book time slot to engage with the exhibitors to ensure the learners have sufficient time to fully engage in the discussions regarding careers. From 4:30pm the event opens to the public for all age ranges, providing the opportunity for parents/carers to attend and find out more.

As well as supporting your Corporate and Social Responsibility activities in the local community, there are numerous benefits in attending this FREE event;

  • Brand awareness to position your business in the local community
  • Raise the profile of your organisation with future workforce
  • Engage with local schools, further and Higher education institutes to
    • Develop apprenticeship and graduate opportunities
