Notice of vacancy in office of Councillor Tuxford and Trent Ward
NOTICE IS GIVEN in accordance with Section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972 that due to the resignation of Councillor Keith Isard, a vacancy has arisen in the Office of Councillor for the Tuxford and Trent Ward.
To call an election to fill the vacancy a request must be made in writing to the Returning Officer at the address below by TWO electors for the Local Government Area.
An election where requested to fill the vacancy would normally be held within thirty-five days (computed in accordance with Section 243(4) of the Local Government Act, 1972), however if an election is requested, a poll cannot currently take place until 6 May 2021 as prescribed by the Coronavirus Act 2020 and the Local Government and Police and Crime Commissioner (Coronavirus) (Postponement of Elections and Referendums) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020.
If TWO local government electors call an election, this will be held on 6 May 2021 unless the provisions of The Coronavirus Act 2020 and The Local Government and Police and Crime Commissioner (Coronavirus) (Postponement of Elections and Referendums) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020 are reviewed before that date.
If no request for an election is received, the seat will remain vacant and be filled at the ordinary election in May 2023.
