Help and support to the community affected by coronavirus

Help and Support for Vulnerable People in Bassetlaw

Bassetlaw District Council is working with Bassetlaw Community and Voluntary Service (BCVS), Nottinghamshire County Council, community groups and other agencies in Bassetlaw to provide help and support for vulnerable residents at risk from Coronavirus.

Many people may already have family nearby or good neighbours who are looking out for them. However, for residents who may feel socially isolated or concerned, the Council and BCVS can help by:

  • Picking up prescriptions
  • Providing help with shopping
  • Arranging food parcels for those in need (and who are not in receipt of a Government food parcel)
  • A weekly keep in touch call to ensure people are safe and well

To access these services call Bassetlaw District Council on 01909 533 533 between 9am – 5pm, seven days a week, including over Easter. Residents can also email us at customer.services@bassetlaw.gov.uk

Foodbank Provision

Foodbank services in Bassetlaw are currently being provided by BCVS, supported by Bassetlaw District Council, with distribution centers in Worksop and Retford. If you need Foodbank Services, please call Bassetlaw District Council on 01909 533 533

We are extremely grateful to Tesco and Morrisons for their donations over the last few weeks, which has helped us to distribute around 180 food parcels in the last eight days. However, if anybody wishes to donate food they can do so at the following locations:

Co-op - Plantation Hill, Worksop

Co-op – Ordsall, Retford

Your NHS needs you!

NHS Volunteer Responders has been set up to support the NHS during the COVID-19 outbreak. To do this we need an 'army' of volunteers who can support the 1.5m people in England who are at most risk from the virus to stay well. Our doctors, nurses and other professionals will be able to refer people in to NHS Volunteer Responders and be confident that they have been matched with a reliable, named volunteer.

Community Support in Bassetlaw

We understand the following businesses and groups are able to support residents.

All contact details listed below are provided for reference only.

Residents are advised to:

  • Be vigilant when engaging with strangers (not to disclose personal information, bank details etc).
  • Not to provide cash in advance of shopping collection
  • Agree an approximate cost in advance and pay on receipt

You may be asked if you are self-isolating before deliveries are made so that deliveries can be made to you safely.

This list will be updated on a regular basis.
