Swine flu - What is swine flu?

The swine flu virus was first identified in Mexico in 2009. The pandemic lasted from 2009 until August 2010 when the World Health Organisation declared it to be officially over.

The pandemic was relatively mild and less serious than predicted.

Most patients suffering serious illness or death as a result of swine flu had existing health problems that had already weakened their immune systems.
