Get rewarded for taking action on climate change
Green Rewards is all about taking action to reduce our carbon footprints and help tackle Climate Change.
All the Nottinghamshire Councils, including Ashfield District Council, Bassetlaw District Council, Broxtowe Borough Council, Gedling Borough Council, Mansfield District Council, Newark and Sherwood District Council, Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and Rushcliffe Borough Council have joined forces with local universities and creator Jump for a trailblazing partnership!
How would you like to win prizes for helping reduce carbon emissions in Bassetlaw?
We’re committed to reduce our impact on the environment and we want to reward residents that help us achieve our goals. That’s why we’ve launched a brand new programme called ‘Green Rewards’ to recognise your positive actions.
Green Rewards is a joint programme with other Nottinghamshire councils and you’ll be able to earn ‘Green Points’ by reporting what sustainable actions you’re taking; whether that’s supporting wildlife, choosing a low carbon transport method or saving energy at home. We then award you with prizes!
As part of the programme you’ll be able to win:
- One of 2 x £20 vouchers each month – one for the top points earner in Bassetlaw and one awarded at random to someone in Bassetlaw that has earned Green Points that month.
- Team prizes will be £100 every six months.
All residents can sign up for free at Notts Green Rewards or by downloading the Green Rewards app on iOS and Android. Search for ‘Notts; Green Rewards’ in your device’s app store.
How the scheme works
Once you sign up or downloaded the Green Rewards app, residents can start to accumulate points and earn prizes for any activities they do every day at home or out and about that help lower their carbon footprint.
The scheme works in a similar fashion to rewards points at retailers, all residents need to do is log their day to day activities that highlight how they are decreasing the amount of carbon they create, such as:
- Walking to work or school instead of taking the car
- Cycling or using public transport
- Putting your recycling bin out with all the correct recyclables
- Switching off a light or switch at home
- Taking a shower of four minutes or less and many, many more!
A full list of how you can redeem points is available on the app or at Notts Green Rewards and when you accumulate sufficient points you can then earn the discounts, vouchers and prizes.
Nottinghamshire is the first County in the country to see all its major local authority and education partners collaborate on a climate change reduction project in this way ahead of next month’s COP 26, providing an easy to use platform and incentives for all residents.
