Primary School children will have the chance to take part in a Mini Basketball Rally, which will take place on Thursday 22^nd May 2008 at Retford Oaks High School between 4pm and 5.30pm. 

The event is being organised by Rob and Steve Bell from the Retford Raiders Mini Basketball Club and Jimmy Smith, the Basketball Development Officer from Notts County Council.

The Retford Raiders Mini Basketball Club has been in operation for 4 years and have recently been awarded “Club Accreditation” having successfully met the criteria set under the new Club Accreditation Scheme, which is run by The Bassetlaw Sports Forum. 

The Retford Raiders Mini Basketball Club has had to fulfil criteria linked to Club Constitution, Child Welfare Procedures, Using Qualified Coaches, Affiliation to a Sports Governing Body, Codes of Conduct for Club Members, Health & safety Procedures and Equitable Operating Practices.

Retford Raiders Mini Basketball Club will be the first club in Bassetlaw to receive this recognition award for excellent working practices within a junior sports club.

Jackie Barnett Chairperson of the Bassetlaw Sports Forum commented “Rob and the volunteers at Retford Raiders Mini Basketball Club have put a tremendous amount of work into acquiring the accreditation mark and have already seen the benefits of having gone through this process. Let’s hope they are the first of many Bassetlaw based Junior Sports Clubs that apply and successfully acquire the Bassetlaw Sports Forum’s Club Accreditation standard.”
