Sports Forum LogoThe Bassetlaw Sports Forum was formed in March 2002 by a group of like minded people who want to develop and highlight the needs and good practice of sport in Bassetlaw, Nottinghamshire.

 

The sports that are currently represented by the group members include: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Disability, Football, Hockey, Martial Arts, Netball, Rugby Union, Schools and Education, Swimming, Tennis, Trampolining and Volleyball.

Coach Scholarship Scheme

The Purpose of the Bassetlaw Sports Forum Coach Scholarship Scheme is to enable committed sports coaches to improve their qualifications and experience. The scheme has been set up to assist coaches who wish to enrol on Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 sport specific coaching courses.

 

The Bassetlaw Sports Forum’s Coach Scholarship scheme aims to provide coaches with a financial incentive to develop their coaching by offering up to 50% of the course cost up to the maximum value of £150.00 (Subject to availability of funds).

Club Accreditation Scheme

The Council's Sports Development Service want all clubs in our district to meet the minimum operating standards that are set out by their National Governing Body of sport (NGB).

 

The Club Accreditation Support Package is a way of helping clubs to start thinking about meeting the NGB minimum standards via the help, support and guidance of the Sports Development Officer. It is designed to help clubs take a stepping stone when working towards their NGB club Accreditation Award.

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games may be over, but who can fail to have been inspired by the fantastic performances of our athletes?

 

Community Games is one of the summer's sporting success stories as well, with over 1,600 events taking place in communities up and down the country. Thanks go to everyone who has worked to make the programme such a success.

 

The good news is that Community Games is definitely not coming to an end so you can still sign up now for Community Games and bring the spirit of London 2012 to your neighbourhood.

 

Just go to www.communitygames.org.uk  There are still quite a few Community Games taking place between now and the end of the year. Just click on the Take Part in a Games page and enter your postcode to see what is happening near you.

 

FANS Scheme

FREE use of fitness suites, swimming and exercise classes that are run by Bassetlaw District Council (age restrictions will apply). For disabled sports people the scheme will extend to their carers.

 

The FANS card is for athletes who are at National Squad Training level.
