Bircotes Leisure Centre is a joint use Centre, sharing it's excellent facilities with Serlby Park School (3-18 Business and Enterprise Learning Community).  Originally constructed by Nottinghamshire County Council and opened in 1976 the Centre offers a wide range of wet and dry sports activities for both adults and children.

 

Bircotes is a community based leisure centre providing facilities for the people of Bircotes and Harworth and the many surrounding towns and villages.  It’s loyal following of customers who enjoy the friendly, informal atmosphere of the centre can enjoy the 20-metre, 4 lane swimming pool, 4 court sports hall, 19 station fitness-suite, squash courts, dance studio/meeting room and 7-a-side multi-use games area.

 

Playing a major role in the community, the centre has close liaisons with various sports clubs and charitable enterprises including Bircotes Penguins Swimming Club and the Kipper Club, a local disabled swimming group, which both operate from the site.

 

Swimming, gymnastics and trampolining, gym-tots, football, squash, badminton and Rookie Lifeguards are all available as 8-10 week courses for those active youngsters together with karate, ballet, tap & many more with ‘Dance 4 Dance.’

 

The Centre is currently an official partner of the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) and follows ASA guidelines during delivery of all swimming lessons, including lesson plans and award schemes. 

 

Together with the vast array of children’s activities, there are also many activities for adults. The Centre has adult swimming lessons available as a course and casual swimming offered at various times throughout the week including public swims, lane swimming, adults only, ladies only, family swimming and, for the early birds, two early morning swimming sessions.

 

Bircotes, which has been accredited as an Inclusive Fitness Initiative Centre, has a fantastic fitness suite compromising CV machines, resistance weights and free weights.  The 19-station fitness suite is offered, following an induction, on a casual basis or on a membership scheme, with 3 different options available. The fitness suite is complemented by 8 weekly fitness classes including circuit training, aerobics, bums N tums, aqua aerobics and Salsacise.
