Bassetlaw Shopmobility
What is Shopmobility?
It is a scheme to enable disabled people to
loan a self-propelled, or battery operated wheelchair or scooter to
travel around the Town Centre.
Where is its location?
Priory Centre Car Park.
Worksop.
Chancery Lane Car Park, Retford.

Who is Eligible?
Anyone who has a physical disability whether
this is temporary or permanent. For example, your mobility may be
temporarily restricted by hospital treatment, or heart trouble or
stroke, or your mobility may be restricted by limb ailments such as
rheumatism or arthritis. You are advised that certain makes of
scooter have a weight carrying limit, which are displayed in the
individual Shopmobility. The overloading of vehicles is prohibited,
and results in invalidation of insurance cover. The client should
inform the member of staff on duty, if they think there may be the
risk of overloading. Failure to do so will result in termination of
membership. The issuing of scooters to individuals is according to
the discretion of the Shopmobility Assistant.
How will the scheme operate and how can I join?
Two forms of identity are required prior to
registration. The Shopmobility Office will require you to fill in a
simple application form and have a photograph taken to become a
member of the scheme. You will be issued with a membership card at
a cost of £1.50, which should be produced each time you wish to use
a wheelchair or scooter. You will be advised for how long you may
loan the wheelchair/scooter and will be expected to return it
within this period. (Not more than 3 hours). It is in your
interests, as well as the efficiency of the scheme to book your
wheelchair/scooter well in advance, to avoid disappointment.
