PLANNING SERVICE INSPECTION BY THE AUDIT COMMISSION - JULY 2008

Planning Services

Planning has a vital role to play if the Council's regeneration objectives are to be achieved.

We make important decisions that will effect Bassetlaw's future.  We encourage you to make your views known during the creation of planning documents under the Local Development Framework and during the development control process.

The new planning policy documents, which constitute the Local Development Framework, are in preparation and will set the guidelines for development in Bassetlaw. Meanwhile we aim to deal with the growing number of applications efficiently and to deliver good quality developments.

Development Control

Bassetlaw District Council's Development Control Unit deal with Planning Applications, Planning Appeals and Enforcement.  For further information follow the link above.

If you would like to submit a planning application electronically, comment on current planning applications then please follow this link to the Planning On-line pages for further information.

Planning Policy

If you wish to view current planning documents, including the Local Plan,  or would like to get involved in the development of future planning policy under the Local Development Framework, you should read all the information on the Policy and Implementation pages.

Bassetlaw’s future housing development

The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) will identify and assess the development potential of possible sites for future housing development. It will form part of the evidence base that will be used to inform the development of the District’s Local Development Framework (LDF).

There is currently the opportunity for landowners, agents and other interested parties to register their interest with the study or to put forward a site for consideration in this assessment. For more information on this study or to register your interest.

Affordable housing provision

On 8 January 2008 Cabinet agreed a report by the Acting Head of Community Services concerning the findings of a recent Strategic Housing Market Assessment which contained a recommendation to revise the Council’s affordable Housing target to refer to the need to provide a minimum of 30% social rented properties on sites over 15 dwellings. Further details of this new approach can be found on the leaflet attached.
