Parks and Open Spaces
Bassetlaw District Council’s Parks and Open Spaces Unit is
responsible for the management and development of over 860 acres of
amenity land throughout Bassetlaw.
Included within this acreage are the two main
town centre parks:
Other key sites include:
- Langold Country Park with its lake and
woodland features
- Kilton Forest Golf Course in
Worksop
The Unit manages a grounds maintenance
service which is responsible for the up keep of the District
Council's green landscaped spaces, street gardens and playing
fields which accommodate a range of sport
based activities.
The Unit also provides technical advice for the maintenance of
grass, shrubs plantings and trees on estates managed by A1
Housing Bassetlaw Limited.
A further aspect of the service delivers grounds maintenance
works in Bassetlaws 3 working cemeteries at:
- Retford Road, Worksop
- Hannah Park, Worksop
- Retford Cemetery, Retford
and a number of closed churchyards.
For the younger age range the Unit
maintains and continues to develop play facilities. This
service currently provides:
- 27 children’s play areas
- 4 multi-use games courts
- 3 skate parks
- 6 outdoor basketball sites
Catering for more passive recreational
pursuits, the Parks and Open Spaces Unit administers a total of 24
allotment sites in Retford and Worksop.
Angling is also provided for on the Unit’s
three open water sites at:
- Langold Country Park
- Sandhill Lake, Worksop
- Woodsetts Quarry Pond near Worksop
