Bulky Items

In addition to the weekly collection of wheeled bins, we also provide a chargeable service to enable you to dispose of those items that are too large to go in your wheeled bin.

 

The following table contains a list of the items than can and can not be collected by the service.

 

Items which WILL be collected

 

Beds, 3 piece suites, tables, chairs, wardrobes, sideboards, wall units, dressing tables, chest of drawers, carpets, general items of household furniture.  Washing machines, cookers, fridges, freezers, fridge/freezers, microwaves, tumble dryers, televisions

Items NOT covered

 

Garden waste or tree/shrub prunings, building rubble/material, fireplaces, concrete, window frames, doors, glass, batteries, tyres, baths, kitchen units, wc pans, wash hand basins, gas fires, boilers, radiators, fencing, garden sheds, asbestos, pianos, car parts, bicycles/motorcycles, mowers/garden machinery, other household fixtures and fittings

 

The charges from 9 August 2010 will be:

  • £5.00 per item
  • (up to a maximum of 9 items)

 

Requests for this service should be made by telephoning the Environment Services hotline on 01909 534501.  Payment can be made by cheque or credit card.

 

The items above that we collect can also be taken by yourself at no cost to one of the two Household Waste Recycling Centres located at:

  • Shireoaks Road, Worksop
  • Hallcroft, Retford

 

For further information on disposal arrangements for items not covered by this service please contact the Customer Service Centre Helpline-Telephone Number  08449  808080.  They will  be able to tell you if your items can be taken to their Household Waste Recycling Centres, or if you need to make your own arrangements for disposal.

 

Van or Trailer Permit

Please be aware that if you wish to use a van or a trailer to transport your items you must first apply for a permit, this is free, and obtainable from Nottinghamshire County Council on 0844 980 80 80.


Opening times

The Household Waste Recycling Centres are open seven days a week at the following times:

  • March 1st to March 31st, 8am to 6pm
  • April 1st to September 30th, 8 am to 8pm
  • October 1st to October 31th, 8am to 6pm
  • November 1st to February 28/29th, 8am to 4pm

 

Please note they are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Asbestos Collection

If you have a need to dispose of the Bonded Type of Asbestos only, in the form of Guttering or Sheets, we will collect it for you.

Please contact 01909 534501 in the first instance.

 

This service is for domestic households only, not commercial premises.

 

If you wish to dispose of the Bonded Type Asbestos yourself, please ring Nottinghamshire County Council on 0844 9808080.
