Energy

The Council works in partnership with a number of other
Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire authorities in an organization
called the East Midlands Energy Partnership. This attempts to
add value to the regional efforts to reduce energy consumption both
in corporate buildings and for the public. It accesses
funding from a number of different national and European sources to
run schemes as diverse as providing low energy light bulbs for
pensioners free of charge through to large scale pilot projects on
alternative energy sources and solar heating. It is also this
person’s responsibility to deal with energy issues within the
Council and to address locally the issues of global warming through
the reduction in the production of green house gasses.

You can find out your carbon footprint and what to do about it
on the Directgov website (public
services all in one place).
