Council

Bassetlaw District Council is one of the seven district authorities which make up Nottinghamshire and serves a population of more than 107,000.

The Council was subject to a Government Comprehensive Performance Assessment in 2005. The assessment ratings are weak, poor, fair, good and excellent. Bassetlaw District Council received a ‘Fair’ score, only two points short of a good rating.

The Audit Commission said: “Bassetlaw District Council is a fair council that is putting in place the building blocks it needs to sustain the significant improvements it has made.”

As one of the largest employees in the area, many of whom live in the District, Bassetlaw District Council has three priorities:

These priorities will be delivered through a Council that is Efficient and Effective.

The guiding mission statement of the Council is:

“To secure the best possible quality of life for everybody in Bassetlaw.”
