Community Safety
Also in this section:

The Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships
(CDRPs) are responsible for planning strategic priorities in
community safety at a local level (by district/borough council
area). However, following the 2002 Police Reform Act,
District-based partnerships are able to merge. This is to enable
them to fit with their police management boundary, which is known
as the basic command unit (BCU). Such a merger will require
with the authority of the Home Secretary.
Their role includes tackling crime, anti-social behaviour and
substance misuse. They work alongside other key partnerships in
Nottinghamshire including Nottinghamshire County Drug and Alcohol
Action Team (DAAT), the Primary Care Trust, Nottinghamshire County
Council, The Fire Service and the Police Authority.
Here in Bassetlaw we are in the process of merging with the
Partnership for Newark and Sherwood. The new partnership is
named: Bassetlaw, Newark and Sherwood Community Safety
Partnership. The formal authority of the Home Secretary for
this merger to be formalised is yet to be sought.
Meanwhile, the existing community safety strategies for each
district remain in force until 31 March 2008. From 1 April
2008, a single, Joint Strategic Assessment will establish
priorities for the next three-year period until 31 March 2011. This
will be supported by a partnership plan. These documents will
be reviewable annually and they will direct the focus of attention
and effort of the partnership.
They will be developed using both data and feedback from
communities. If you wish to tell us what you would want the
police or any of the partners to tackle in your community over the
next three-months, then please let us know: email: stella.munn@bassetlaw.gov.uk
The
partnership structure is attached along with and
explanation of how it operates.
The District Council supports effort in different ways, for
example.

anti-social nature. You can contact them by email to Lynne Everitt:

Racist incidents: if you are a victim, or you think someone
else is the victim of a racist abuse or crime and you are
unsure, or do not wish to report it to the police, you may report
it to us at the district council.
The district council enforces other legislation including Planning
enforcement and environmental services (fly-tipping, abandoned
vehicles, noise and licensing.
