Health and Safety at Work
This section inspects over 2,000 premises for
which the District Council has the responsibility for ensuring the
Health and Safety of employees and customers is protected. This
covers everything from tyre fitting bays to normal offices and
shops.
(Inspectors will visit and make sure that
legislation is complied with and offer advice and guidance to new
or existing business owners on how to operate safely. It also runs
targeted campaigns and projects on particular types of
business)?
We carry out the following duties:
- Enforce Health and Safety at Work
legislation, mainly in the consumer services, retail, office and
warehousing sectors
- Investigate accidents at work, working in
partnership with the Health and Safety Executive
- Carry out routine inspections of work
places
- Promote safety at work via national and
local initiatives
