Concessionary Travel
National Free Travel Scheme
The English national free travel scheme will come into effect on
1st April 2008 as announced by Ruth Kelly, the Minister for
Transport. More information on the scheme will be published before
this date as the details are finalised.
There is no need for Bassetlaw residents to do anything
at this stage. Existing pass holders will automatically be issued
with new passes in March 2008.
The current free travel scheme will continue to operate until
31st March 2008.
The current Nottinghamshire Concessionary Travel Scheme is for
Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons resident in Nottinghamshire.
It is jointly financed by the County Council and all of the
District Councils. Travel permits provided under this scheme can be
used on buses, trams and trains throughout the County with very few
restrictions.
