Making Payments
You can pay your Council Tax or Business Rates
by many easy and convenient ways. These are all shown on the
back of you Council Tax bill.:
Direct Debit for Council Tax and Business Rates
This is the only method of payment that gives you a choice of 5
different payment dates for Council Tax and 4 for Business
Rates.
Download
your copy of either our Council Tax or Business Rates Direct Debit
Instruction.
Complete the instruction and
return it to your local One Stop Shop. or send it in by FREEPOST
(No stamp required) to the address on the instruction.
We can take your details over the phone
Phone us on 01909 533383/533234/533258 between
8:40am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday and we will take your Direct
Debit details over the phone.

You can choose from 5 different dates to pay your
Council Tax, and you can choose to pay up to March 2009.

For Business Rates you can choose form 4
different payment dates, you can pay over 10 months from April
2008.

- This Guarantee is offered by all Banks and
Building Societies that take part in the Direct Debit Scheme. The
efficiency and security of the Scheme is monitored and protected by
your own Bank or Building Society.
- If the amounts to be paid or the payment dates
change, Bassetlaw District Council will notify you at least 10
working days (or as otherwise agreed) in advance of your bank
account being debited.
- If an error is made by Bassetlaw District
Council or your Bank of Building Society, you are guaranteed a full
and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid.
- You can cancel your Direct Debit instruction
at any time simply by writing to your Bank or Building Society.

Payment using Billpay Service
https://www.billpayment.co.uk/scripts/index.asp
(This uses the Alliance Leicester internet payment facility, you
just need to go through the simple registration process).
You can pay money to the council for the
following bills by debit card using the internet. This method is
currently suitable for:
- Council Tax
- Business Rates
- Rent (A1 Housing)
The
service is currently provided by Girobank's BillPay scheme on
behalf of the council. You do not need to hold a Girobank account.
The service is available 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
Bassetlaw District Council will be introducing further
enhancements to the online payment facility which will allow
customers to pay for more of their services online using debit or
credit cards.
Full details of how to use the BillPay service,
including registering as a new user, and importantly the assurance
that the latest encryption technology is used by Girobank, can be
found by access to their website.
Another advantage is that once you've completed
the simple on-line registration with Girobank you can pay other
bills this way, not just your Council Tax to Bassetlaw District
Council.
To use the service you will need a Delta, Visa
Electron, Switch, Maestro, or Solo debit card.
Credit cards are not currently accepted by the
Billpay service.

Payment using Home Banking
You can pay through your own HOME BANKING facility with your own
Bank or Building Society. Please quote our sort code
08-90-44 and account number
61031885 and your full 12 digit Council
Tax Reference Number (Located on the front of your Council
Tax Bill).
Payments in Person
Take your Council Tax, Business Rates or Sundry Debts

The cashiers service in our One Stop Shops accept
most types of credit card (Not American Express) and we
accept debit cards. This service covers Council Tax and
Business Rate payments.

Payments by Post
For security, please send only cheques and postal orders through
the post. Send your payment to the Worksop or Retford
office. If you require a receipt, you must either enclose
your council Tax, Business rates or Sundry Debts Bill/invoice.

Payments by Standing Order
If you set up a standing order through your own Bank or Building
Society to pay your Council Tax or Business Rates, please note it
takes between 6 - 10 days for payments to reach your account.
Please ensure you give enough time for your payments to reach your
account by the due payment date.
Please quote our Sort Code: 08-90-44, and Account Number:
61031885 and quote your 12 digit Council Tax Account reference or
your 10 or 16 digit Business Rates number.

Payments at the Post Office
Council Tax payers who are resident in certain rural areas of
Bassetlaw can pay at their local Post Office (free of charge) using
our swipe card scheme.
This scheme helps customers who don't live in the parts of
Bassetlaw which have Cashier Halls to take payments.
For information on how to obtain a swipe card for paying at your
local rural post office please contact us.
Any cheques paid to a post office should be made out to "Post
Office Ltd".
