How do I claim Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit?
If you are under 60yrs and claim Income Support
or Job Seekers Allowance or Incapacity Benefit,the Jobcentre
Plus will complete a form at your appointment with them, for
you to claim Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit at the same
time.

If you are over 60yrs, you can make a claim for
Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit at the same time as
claiming Pension Credit, with The Pension Service. They will help
you to complete a shorter form or you will be able to claim over
the phone. To contact the Pension Service, to claim, phone 0845 60
60 265 (textphone 0845 60 60 285).
If you have not claimed any of the
above benefits and are on a low income, you can claim
Housing Benefit directly at the Council or with your Housing
Manager if you are a A1 Housing tenant.
You need to fill in a new claim
form and provide evidence of your identity, National
Insurance Number(s) and income, when you claim.You can get the

Council's One stop Shops or Harworth Area office between
8.40am and 5.00pm.
- Make an appointment with an advisor to help you claim by
phoning 01909 533198 for an appointment at Worksop, 01777 713808
for an appointment at Retford or 01302 743935 for Harworth.
- Alternatively, if you are unable to get to one of our offices,
contact 01777 713855 to arrange a home visit to help you claim
- For A1 Housing tenants you can get help to claim from your
Housing Manager
