As part of its Tree Preservation Order Review, the Council,
along with the Woodland Trust, proposes to designate significant
trees as ‘Landmark’ trees, which will demonstrate what protected
trees are very significant in terms of their character and visual
amenity.
In 2011, the Tree Preservation Order review highlighted that a
large number of trees made an ‘outstanding contribution’ to local
amenity in Bassetlaw. These ‘Landmark’ trees may be significant in
size, age or setting and around two thirds are estimated to
publicly owned, mainly growing in open spaces or along the
highway.
Examples of landmark trees in public spaces include Lime Tree
Avenue in Clumber Park which has been recognised as a very
significant feature and is the longest lime tree avenue in
Europe.
To recommend a tree to be classed as a ‘Landmark’ Tree, please
complete the following form.
All submissions will be sent to the Woodland Trust and uploaded
on to the National Ancient Tree register.
