Food Safety Week
Bassetlaw District Council’s Environmental
Health Team are taking part in the annual national Food Safety Week
from 9th – 13th June.
Food Safety Week is the point
in the calendar for highlighting the importance of food safety and
the basic principles of food hygiene.
The theme of the UK wide campaign is
"GermWatch" designed to raise awareness of good food hygiene
practice especially the 4Cs (Cleaning, Cooking, Chilling and
avoiding Cross Contamination).
“Food hygiene is a very important issue and it
is vital that we spread the message about it,” said Councillor Mike
Pugsley, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Housing at the
Council.
“We will have information boards in the One
Stop Shop (Retford) and in the reception area at Queen’s Buildings.
Officers will also be at a stall at Worksop Market (Wednesday) and
Retford Market (Thursday) giving advice on all food hygiene related
issues.”
There will also be a free prize draw with children’s lunch packs
and ice packs to be won. A limited number of fridge/freezer
thermometers for entrants to the draw will also be available.
