Council gain possession of Flat

A1 Housing and Bassetlaw District Council have taken back possession of a flat in Lowtown, Worksop after a three-month Closure Notice had been obtained in October 2017.

The Closure Notice had originally been enforced after the previous tenant had subjected his neighbours to persistent episodes of anti-social behaviour during the first two months of his tenancy.

However, an Order for Possession was granted at Mansfield County Court at the beginning of January 2018 and the property can now been re-let to a new tenant.

Cllr Steve Scotthorne, Cabinet Member for Housing at Bassetlaw District Council, said: “It was extremely important to regain possession of this property so that it can be rented to someone who is in need of social housing.”

If you are an A1 Housing Tenant and experiencing anti-social behaviour in your community, please contact your Housing Officer or call 0800 590 542. You can also contact Bassetlaw District Council’s Community Safety Team on 01909 533 533.
