Take a guided tour around the stars.
If you have a pair of binoculars bring them along.
There will also be themed talks and childrens activities (eg “crater making,” an astronomy themed quiz, and a space shuttle landing simulation)
Booking is not required – just turn up.
Free onsite parking. Refreshments. Disabled access to all areas (however, please note that the main telescope is situated in a dome at the top of a spiral staircase).
If you have any questions on an astronomical theme, our members will be on hand to answer them.
Free sky maps or factsheets to take away.
Wrap up warm as most of the evening will be spent outside (astronomy can be a very cold science).Weather conditions may restrict viewing but the event will still go ahead.
Please be aware. Due to the popularity of the event, there is a possibility that even if you arrive early before the gates open, you may have to wait a couple of hours before being admitted to the main telescope and talk. However, if this does happen, please visit the other activities first.
