Private rented housing is a vital and growing part of the
housing market comprising almost 14 per cent of all households, or
nearly three million homes in England.
The private rented sector offers a flexible form of tenure and
meets a wide range of housing needs. It contributes to greater
labour market mobility and is increasingly the tenure of choice of
young people.

Landlord Accreditation Scheme (EMLAS)
Bassetlaw District Council is working in partnership
with EMLAS (East Midlands Landlords Accreditation Scheme), which is
a new region-wide accreditation scheme that encourages and rewards
good property standards and management practice in the private
rented sector.
Any residential landlord who has properties in
Bassetlaw can join the scheme and enjoy not only the market
advantage it offers, but also briefing sessions on new legislation,
resource material and guidance, professional development courses
and inclusion on the EMLAS property database and website.
Bassetlaw District Council want to help shine a
spotlight on the good landlords in our district.
By joining the EMLAS scheme you will be able to advertise this
logo on your lettings, enabling perspective tenants to
identify you as a responsible landlord.
Not only this but we will also help you advertise your
properties by providing FREE advertising space in
A1 Housing's Property Shops located in both Worksop and Retford. In
September 2011 we will extend the offer of free advertising on to
the councils Choice Based Lettings website, HomeFinder. HomeFinder
is a web based internet programme that will allow applicants on the
councils housing waiting list to view your properties on line
helping to improve your chances of finding a tenant - free of
charge.
The scheme is currently FREE to join until
1st April 2012, so join today to start receiving your benefits.
