Worksop’s new bus station is a step closer after plans to lease land on Queen
Street to Nottinghamshire County Council were approved, with Bassetlaw District Council contributing to the annual running costs of the new facility.

The approved Cabinet paper recommends that Bassetlaw District Council:

  • Work with the County Council to deliver a bus station by 2015
  • Give up 30 existing car parking spaces in the Queen Street car park to complete the site assembly of the new bus station on the basis of a long-term lease of up to 99 years
  • Agree to a gross £35,000 budget provision for the running costs of the bus station in Worksop, a figure which will be reviewed after five years of operation of the bus station.

The site of the proposed bus station for Worksop is on the corner of Newcastle Street/Watson Road. The location is close to the main shopping area in the town (approximately 170m from Bridge Street) and the library.
