Food Allergens & Alerts
Current allergen labelling rules changed on 13th December 2014.
Many food businesses are already starting to make changes to how they label allergens on their menus or food products.
More details will be available when your food business is inspected by our Food Safety Officers or if you would like an advisory visit to assist you in checking your menu and to discuss your practices to minimise the risk of cross contamination.
Is your Food Business Ready?
New allergen labelling legislation came into effect from 13th December 2014. For help with how to identify the allergens in ingredients in all your dishes you may find it useful to complete the allergy matrix checklist and for each dish you serve you may consider using the recipe sheet. For additional advice or if you require an advisory visit please contact the food team who will be pleased to assist you to develop your procedures.
Allergy Awareness training sessions have been available throughout October and November 2014. Additional cources are available during January and February 2015, alternatively in house training courses can be arranged in your food business (price on request).
Sessions are available for the price of £30 for a 3 hour training session organised by North Notts College in conjunction with your Environmental Health Team from Bassetlaw District Council.
The sessions will be informal where you will meet similar food businesses at venues across the district and local food officers will be available for advice. The course has been designed for anyone working in the food industry from food business owners, managers, chefs and front of house waiting on staff.
