Religious Marriage

You can be married in a church or chapel of the Church of England or Wales by contacting the vicar of the relevant church. To be married in a church of any other denomination (which has been formally registered with the Registrar General), first contact the priest, minister or leader who will advise you to give notice of marriage at your local Register Office.

For more information on organising a religious marriage visit the Nottinghamshire County Council website.

Civil Marriage

From a simple and quiet ceremony with two witnesses at the Register Office, to a more elaborate affair at an approved venue (hotels, stately homes, sports grounds etc), you have a great deal of choice. Please note, however, that civil ceremonies must not contain any religious content (for more specific information please contact the Register Office conducting your ceremony).

For more information on organising or a list of approved venues for a civil marriage, visit the Nottinghamshire County Council website.
