Minimum Standards For Anti-Social Behaviour

In October 2009 the Home Secretary announced that all local Council's must outline a set of minimum standards when tackling Anti-social Behaviour (ASB). This information must be made available to the general public.

This document includes all recommendations set out by the Government.

Bassetlaw District Council has agreed the following minimum standard of service in terms of addressing issues in relation to reported and referred incidents of anti-social behaviour to the Council’s Community Safety Team

  • Contact with the victim/witness as soon as we can, but within a maximum of 5 working days.
  • Leaflet to be handed to the victim/complainant/witness explaining the investigation process.
  • The incident to be fully investigated.
  • Details to be recorded on anti social behaviour database.
  • If a multi-agency response is required, referral to be made to the Local Multi Agency Problem Solving Group.
  • Action Plan to be developed and implemented.
  • Victim(s)/Witness(es) to be informed of the detail contained within the action plan, and also who is carrying out the actions.
  • Explore additional measures for gathering evidence and seek permission of the victim/witness.
  • Regular updates to victim/witness throughout the investigation.
  • On completion of the investigation, victim/witness to be informed of the outcome and also the reasons for that outcome.
  • Investigation questionnaire to be completed by victim/witness.
  • If dissatisfied with the outcome explain procedures for complaining to Bassetlaw, Newark & Sherwood Community Safety Partnership to have their complaint investigated.
