About Me

Jo has been married to John Mann MP for 27 years, they have three children with the youngest leaving home for University last year. She is the daughter of a midwife and a supermarket worker. Jo moved to Bassetlaw when John was elected to Parliament in 2001. One of Jo’s proudest moments was when she was elected to represent the residents of Worksop East. This was made even more special because it coincided with the election of her identical twin sister to the council in Newport in south Wales.

Her family background and early life experiences gave her an interest in politics from a young age and she has a strong belief in fairness, equality of opportunity and the need to raise aspirations and pride in where we live.

Jo is now the Portfolio Holder for Regeneration at Bassetlaw District Council and is fully committed to strengthening our communities through increasing employment opportunities and making Bassetlaw attractive to new business and open to tourists. Our geographical and historical links to the Pilgrim Fathers need to be enhanced and promoted as we approach the 400th anniversary of their arrival in America.

When Jo gets some spare time she likes to spend it with her family and usually relaxes with a glass of wine and a good DVD.

Councillor Jo White is the Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration.
