Dear Residents
Following extensive consideration of the options available to
address the on-going odour emissions associated with the Tunnel
Tech North site at Newington, Bassetlaw District Council issued
Tunnel Tech North with a draft variation to their existing
environmental permit on the 30th January 2012. A copy of the
proposed variation was also supplied to the Clark’s of the local
Parish Councils on 1st February 2012 and representatives from the
Environmental Health Department attended the Misson Parish Council
meeting on the 1st February to address any questions from
residents. The Council gave Tunnel Tech North and members of the
local Parish Councils until 10th February 2012 to consider the
details of the proposed variation and supply comments. The Council
received comments from Tunnel Tech North and Misson Parish Council
on Friday 10th February 2012. All the comments received have now
been considered at length.
The council’s aim is to secure the best and most appropriate
improvements for the Tunnel Tech North site such as to provide
long-term health and amenity protection for those living within the
local community. This aim will only be achieved by all parties
concerned working together towards agreed objectives. To this end,
and in view of the comments received in response to the draft
permit, Bassetlaw District Council are proposing to meet
representatives of Tunnel Tech North in the near future to discuss
further, and in more detail, Bassetlaw District Council’s proposed
permit variation and Tunnel Tech North’s response. Officers are
satisfied that that such a meeting is both necessary and desirable
in achieving the improvements required.
We will aim to keep you updated over the coming weeks on the
progress the Council is making towards securing long-term,
sustainable improvements at the Tunnel Tech site.
Please continue to log the times and dates when the odour from
Tunnel Tech is of concern. This can be done in a number of
