The aim of the Food Safety Act is to ensure that all food sold
to the public is safe to eat. One of our responsibilities is
to enforce food safety legislation.
In particular we inspect local food businesses to enforce
hygiene standards, investigate complaints about hygiene or
contaminated foods and investigate infectious diseases.
