Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR)

In 2005, the Government introduced the Small Business Rate Relief Scheme (SBRR).  This scheme means that the Government has set two multipliers.  For 2013/14 these values are 47.1p for those who do not qualify for this relief and 46.2p for those who qualify.

This Relief is only available to rate payers with either:

  1. One property whose rateable lower than £18,000, or
  2. One main property and other additional properties providing those additional properties have rateable values less than £2,600, and all properties in total do not exceed £18,000

More information is available in the Business Rates leaflet 'Your Business Rates'.  This should have accompanied your annual rates bill.  If you want to be sent another copy please e-mail the Business Rates team at customer.services@bassetlaw.gov.uk or telephone the Business Rates helpline on 01909 533460.

Eligible ratepayers receive 100% relief on properties that have a Rateable Value (RV) of £6000 or less with tapered relief between 100% and 0% for values of between £6001 and £12000.

The extra relief will continue until 31 March 2014 providing that the ratepayer is currently in receipt of SBRR and remains eligible.

Eligible properties with an RV between £12,000 and £18,000 will be calculated using the Small Business Rate Relief multiplier (46.2p), however the sliding scale discount will not apply.

Over 1000 businesses receive SBRR in Bassetlaw.  Don't miss out!
