Council Tax and Business Rates

Council Tax

Council Tax is the way that Council's raise money to pay for services such as refuse collection, education, social services, libraries, planning, community safety, fire and rescue services and much more.  Council Tax is a charge on domestic dwellings for example houses, flats and bungalows.

Business Rates

Business Rates (National Non-Domestic Rates) are payable on all commercial properties.  This includes shops, offices, banks, hotels, factories and power stations.

 

The rates payable are collected by Bassetlaw District Council and then paid over to Central Government.  In turn the money is given back to Councils based on a calculation by the Government.
