Adoption is a means of providing a child with an opportunity to experience family life. It means that a child legally becomes the son or daughter of adoptive parents and that all rights and responsibilities for the child transfer from the natural parents to the adoptive parents.

Bassetlaw District Council do not provide an adoption service, however if you are thinking of adopting, you are adopted, you know someone who has been adopted or you want to work in adoption, Nottinghamshire County Council will give you information, advice and support in any of these areas.
