Some 20 local organisations are coming together next Wednesday
28th September in a Jobs & Advice Fair aimed at
helping people who are looking for work.
The commercial, local government and voluntary
sectors will all be represented, as well as those providing courses
leading to the kinds of qualifications that prospective employers
are looking for.
Coordinator of the event, Mrs Lesley Towl, a
volunteer at the Worksop Work Club, said, “The world of work is
often bewildering to people in search of jobs. The Jobs Fair
has been put together so someone looking for work can be put in
touch with people who are offering jobs or with those who can help
them find a job, including local Christmas work. Others can
give information about apprenticeships and training courses and
support for people looking for work.”
The Job fair will be staged at the District
Council’s premises 73 Bridge Street from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Entrance is free.
Leader of Bassetlaw District Council, Graham
Oxby, who will open the Fair said, “We are delighted to be able
to play a part in this community effort to tackle the problem
of joblessness in Bassetlaw. It is fitting that the Council’s
facilities right in the heart of the Worksop Market are being used
as a platform to focus attention on the range of ways available to
find work as well as giving employers a chance to have face to face
contact with jobseekers.”
