Bassetlaw District Council’s Housing Needs Team is to pilot a
new “Drop In” Service for Homeless People from 31 October 2011.
Anyone looking for advice regarding homelessness matters, such as
being unable to pay their rent or mortgage or anyone concerned
about someone else’s housing situation is welcome to speak in
confidence to one of the Council’s professional housing needs
advisors
The drop-in sessions will take place on Monday and Friday
mornings from 10.00am to 12.00 noon at Queens Buildings, Potter
Street, Worksop. The pilot scheme will run for two months
Cllr Alan Rhodes, portfolio holder for Housing said “The pilot
will run for two months so we can gauge the need for the service.
We suspect that there are quite a few people who worry that they
might become homeless because they find it very difficult to pay
their rent or their mortgage. This is not necessarily the case as
there is support and advice available to help people deal with such
situations
“Once we can establish if there is sufficient need for this kind
of service, we’ll take the necessary steps to continue the drop-in
scheme on a permanent basis.”
