On Saturday 7th May, Nottinghamshire Wildlife
Trust will be hosting a Spring Wildlife Roadshow at the county’s
largest nature reserve. Just two miles from Retford Town Centre and
the size of 600 football pitches, the Idle Valley Nature Reserve is
one of the most important wildlife areas in the region. Activities
on May 7th will include guided walks, bird watching advice, family
pond-dipping and mini-beast hunts as well as nature detective
sessions for children.
Idle Valley is home to many different habitats, including lakes,
islands, grassland and woodland. The Wildlife Roadshow will give
visitors a chance to explore the reserve and its on-site facilities
including refreshments.
The nature reserve forms part of the Wildlife Trust’s Idle
Valley Living Landscape project, one of the charity’s most
ambitious schemes to date, which aims to link existing areas of
habitat, improve public access and develop new opportunities for
local people to learn new skills.
The Roadshow event is free and will run from 11am to 4pm on
Saturday, May 7.
