‘Dance in Town’ Returns to Bassetlaw

dance in town posterBassetlaw District Council will once again be bringing ‘Dance in Town’ to Worksop and Retford Town Centres on Saturday 25th June.

From 11.30 am and 3.00 pm people will be able to watch all kinds of dance and then have a go themselves. Why not try belly dancing, Irish dancing, body popping, Zumba and much, much more! The performances will take place at:

Worksop Town Centre  Retford Town Centre
Bridge Street (Top) – Outside Number 73  Carolgate
Bridge Street (Lower) – Outside Boots  Retford Market Square

The event, organised by the Council’s Sports Development and Fabulous Arts Teams aims to build on the success of last year’s event, which saw lots of people get involved on the day and several participating groups attract new members.

Cllr Julie Leigh, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Leisure said:

“Whether your style is ‘Strictly’ or ‘So You think You Can Dance’ I’d like to encourage everybody to get involved in Dance in Town. This year it’s bigger and better with much more variety. From Line Dancing to Lion Dancing we are offering residents the chance to put their best foot forward and Dance themselves a little fitter. Or just turn up and be entertained.”

Exercise and Physical Activity Development Officer Alex Porter said:

“Dance clubs and dance schools from across the district will showcase a variety of dance styles on the streets of Bassetlaw. They’ll also invite the public to join in. We're trying to get people a little bit fitter, while having a whole lot of fun.”
