Bassetlaw District Council is committed to bringing forward the
A1M site at Harworth as a major investment site for Bassetlaw and
the Sheffield City Region, despite missing out on Enterprise Zone
status.
To ensure that the site is brought forward as quickly as
possible the Council is allocating a dedicated resource towards the
development of A1M. A senior planning officer will lead a team of
officers who will work with landowners, developers, the local
community and land agents to market the site and attract businesses
to locate to A1M.
Councillor Graham Oxby, Leader of Bassetlaw District Council
said:
“Obviously we are disappointed, we felt that our application was
very strong and the Local Enterprise Partnership thought our
proposal met a lot of the criteria set out by Government. However
the LEP decided that by combining a number of different sites they
could offer more to the City Region than the Harworth site
alone.”
“As far as we are concerned, this is just the beginning for A1M.
Not getting Enterprise Zone status does not remove the benefits of
the site: it is still incredibly well connected with the motorway
network, still close to the airport, is still easy to develop and
still has a local authority ready and willing and able to make this
happen. We believe this site can still play a positive role in
future of the City Region.”
