Fairtrade Fortnight 2012 Feb 27th to March 11th 2012 is about ‘Taking a step’ for Fairtrade in 2012

Fairtrade 2012

The Council is an avid supporter of Fairtrade and Bassetlaw is officially a Fairtrade District based on the number of shops and outlets where Fairtrade produce can be bought or consumed. The Council also uses Fairtrade Tea and sugar for all meetings.

Fairtrade is a simple way each one of us can make a difference through our everyday choices. It's about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. Fairtrade aims to enable the poorest farmers and workers to improve their position and have more control over their lives.

Saturday March 3rd - 2.30pm Taking a Lighter Step Conference

The Crossing Newcastle Street, Worksop, S81 2AT

Fairtrade for Bassetlaw is hosting Moses Renee, a Fairtrade Banner grower from the Windward Islands at a mini conference on ‘Taking a Lighter Step’. Moses will be highlighting the benefits of buying Fairtrade Bananas and the how being part of the Fairtrade Movement has helped them come through several recent major natural disasters.

We have also been involved in a Big Knit project to create a knitted slogan to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight. This slogan will be displayed across Bassetlaw during the year. During Fairtrade Fortnight you can see the display in The Crossing Café, Worksop.
