Following a report of a possible scam in Bassetlaw, the District
Council is warning householders to be on their guard for bogus
offers of cavity wall and loft insulation.
The Council’s Housing Information Officer, Gemma French, said “
The Council are running a scheme called Warmstreets in partnership
with Apex Carbon Solutions to help householders reduce their energy
bills and combat fuel poverty by installing cavity wall and loft
insulation to private properties.
“Unfortunately, an elderly couple were approached by bogus
callers claiming to represent Warmstreets and took £60 as an
upfront payment for cavity wall and loft insulation. They did not
return to carry out the work.
“Bassetlaw Warmstreets contractors will always provide
Identification as well as a phone number for the Council so that
householders can check the legitimacy of the scheme.
“Bassetlaw Warmstreets will never ask for upfront payment or
pressurise households to take part in the scheme”
