Museums of the Mind is an exciting pilot project taking place
across the East Midlands. It aims to show that museums can make a
positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of the
community.
The project is funded by the Museums Libraries and Archives
Council.
Sam Glasswell, curator of Bassetlaw Museum, said, “A group of
service users and volunteers from the mental health charity, MIND,
guided by freelance facilitator, Kim Lewin, have met at the Museum
once a week for six months. They’ve had hands-on access to items in
the Museum’s collection and these have inspired them to create
exhibition now on show at the Museum.”
The exhibition runs until 5th February. Admission is free and
the exhibition is open from 10:00 am and 4:30pm.
The award-winning Bassetlaw Museum, which is owned and operated
by Bassetlaw District Council is located in Amcott House, 40 Grove
Street, Retford. Enquiries: 01777 713749.
