As part of the regeneration of Worksop town centre and in an
effort to safeguard its long term future, Worksop Market will be
moving to Bridge Street from Wednesday February 16th. The market
will run on three days a week, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with
all current contracted market traders allocated pitches.
Over the winter, work has taken place to build new bespoke
Market Stalls for Bridge Street, remove old street furniture and
develop a new market compound at Number 73.
Councillor Terry Yates, Cabinet Member for Finance and Property
believes that the Market will bring benefits to both local
shopkeepers and market traders and will have a brighter future down
Bridge Street:
“The Market move will bring about an increase in footfall for
the top of town and this move will help make Worksop Market more
attractive to market traders. Our Wednesday Market is now full and
interest in Friday and Saturday pitches is up by 30%.”
As part of the Market, there will be a special food area outside
the town hall to accommodate those trading from vehicles and
providing refreshments.
Director of Community Services, Mark Ladyman said:
“We are all set to move on the 16th February and over the next
few weeks we will be carrying out a series of dummy runs as we look
to be as prepared as possible. I’d like to thank our Market Traders
for their input, patience and ideas throughout this process. I hope
that people will continue to support Worksop Market in its new
location and that we see growth so that all three market days
thrive and prosper.”
