The Labour Group forms the political administration of the Council.

 

The Leader of the Council is Councillor Simon Greaves.

 

A lifelong resident of the District, Simon attended Valley Comprehensive School in Worksop before studying Law at Derby University and attending Bar School in London. He later qualified as a Solicitor specialising in criminal defence.

 

Simon was first elected to Bassetlaw District Council in 2002 and at that time was the youngest elected Councillor in the District.

 

In 2011 Simon was re-elected as one of the Councillors representing the Worksop North East Ward. Simon was elected Leader of the Council in May 2012 and holds the Policy and Community Engagement Portfolio.
