Fill in the Voter Registration form to make sure you are eligible to vote in forthcoming elections.

Electoral Services are responsible for the compilation of the Register of Electors each year and for the organisation and conduct of all elections taking place within the District which are District Council, Parliamentary, European and Parish Elections.

 

The register of Electors is only available to view at the Council Offices by appointment.  To make an appointment or for further information contact Electoral Services on 01909 533464  or e-mail elections@bassetlaw.gov.uk 

 

The main duties of Electoral Services are:-

  • To ensure that every household receives an electoral registration form each year and on completion and return make sure that all eligible electors are correctly registered.
  • The registration of Overseas Electors, Service Personnel and European Union Citizens.
  • The processing of postal and proxy voting applications.
  • Provision of polling stations, election staff and all polling stationery and equipment.
  • To provide candidates and their agents with all the necessary literature in respect of elections in which they are to stand.
  • To advertise and promote electoral registration and elections and answer any related queries.
  • Electoral Services is committed, wherever possible, to provide access to polling for all members of the community.

Electoral Commission

The Electoral Commission is an independent body that was set up by the UK Parliament.

 

Its mission is to foster public confidence and participation in the democratic process, by promoting integrity, involvement and effectiveness.

 

The Electoral Commission's responsibilities include registering and regulating political parties, reviewing electoral law and procedures, promoting public awareness of our electoral systems and advising those involved on the conduct of elections and referendums.

Nottinghamshire County Council Elections

Are you standing or interested in standing as a candidate for election in the forthcoming Nottinghamshire County Council Elections on 2nd May 2013.

 

A candidates and agents briefing has been arranged for Thursday 21st March 2013 at 5.30pm in the Ceres Suite, Queen’s Buildings, Potter Street, Worksop, S80 2AH.

 

Nomination Packs and the appropriate Register of Electors etc will be available at the briefing.

A representative from Nottinghamshire County Council will be in attendance.
