The Council provide high quality and good value services to meet the needs of the area's residents and businesses.  These service include housing, refuse collection, planning, benefits, recycling, street cleaning, environmental health and many more.

We also works in partnership with other public and private organisations such as the police, health businesses and community representatives to plan, support, encourage or manage other services.

• Bassetlaw residents are served by the District Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.
• Bassetlaw provides a wide range of service which are under the general management of a Chief Executive.
• Bassetlaw is divided into 25 wards and represented by 48 Councillors.
• The 48 Councillors are voted for by local people and the current composition is Labour 34, Conservative 11 and Independent three.
• Villages and rural areas are served by a Local Parish Council.
• Nottinghamshire County Council are responsible for Education, Social Care, Libraries and Highways.
• Bassetlaw Council employ over 600 employees (this number includes both full and part-time employees)
• Bassetlaw is twinned with Pfungstadt and Garbsen in Germany, Aurillac/Arpajon-Sur-Cere in France and Farmers Branch in the USA.
