Cabinet
Bassetlaw District Council is run by a Cabinet of six
Elected Councillors.
Cabinet works with various Scrutiny & Review Panels who
monitor performance and spending for each of the Council's priority
areas.
Full Council acts as a watchdog, making sure that the Cabinet's
decisions are in the best interests of the people of Bassetlaw. The
Cabinet refers many key decisions to Council, because they are so
important that all Councillors need to be involved.

Making a Complaint about a Councillor
A new procedure came into force in May 2008 to
help you make a complaint about the conduct of a Bassetlaw District
Councillor or a Parish Councillor.
The complaint, which must be in writing, will
be considered with a view to investigation and if appropriate
referred to the Standards Committee of this Council. This committee
is is responsible for all complaints. Made up of three District
Councillors, three Parish Councillors and six independent members,
the committee is responsible for maintaining and promoting high
ethical standards. All six of the independent members are not
councillors or employees of the Council.
Standards Committee will not be able to
look into other types of complaint such as, employees of the
Council, the way that the Council conducts or records its meetings,
actions or decisions by the Council.
A similar process applies to complaints
about County Councillors which are dealt with by the
Nottinghamshire County Council.
If you wish to make a complaint of the
nature described then you should write to:
The Monitoring Officer, Bassetlaw District
Council, Queens Buildings, Worksop S80 2AH
Further information and guidance relating to
complaints is also available on the website Standards Board
website.
